About Me

I build bridges between learning theory and user-centred design to create experiences that are not just usable, but also meaningful and memorable.

Profile

With over nine years of experience in Australia's technology and education sectors, I've developed a unique skill set that merges the rigour of learning design with the empathy of user experience (UX) design. My career began in tech support and evolved into roles where I could directly impact how people interact with and learn from technology.

Currently, as a Learning Designer at a Group of Eight university, I apply these principles to create engaging and effective online courses for thousands of students. I thrive on complex challenges and am passionate about using design to solve problems and improve people's lives.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a recognition of my commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education.

My Approach

My design practice combines the structure of learning theory with the creativity of user-centred design. I see every project as an opportunity to solve complex problems in a way that is clear, practical, and meaningful for learners and stakeholders.

I work iteratively, moving from exploration to refinement through research, prototyping, and feedback. Collaboration is central to this process—whether it’s with academics, developers, or media specialists—because the best results come from shared insight and diverse perspectives.

I draw on systems thinking to understand the broader context of a challenge and ensure that solutions are not only usable in the moment but sustainable over time. While frameworks such as the double-diamond guide my process, I adapt methods to suit the needs of each project rather than applying a rigid formula.

Inspiration often comes from observing patterns in nature and design: elegant, efficient, and resilient solutions that can be translated into digital learning experiences. My aim is always the same—create courses and tools that are engaging, accessible, and designed to last.

Life Outside Work

When I'm not working, here's a glimpse into what fuels my spirit:

  • Challenging my physical limits and having fun through CrossFit to maintain strength and resilience.
  • Enjoying tranquillity at home or the dog park with our Kelpie cross, 'Jerry Boi Seinfeld'.
  • Immersing myself in compelling reads—from animal studies and biographies to Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
  • Humming along to inspiring music and continually reminding myself to practise guitar.
  • Tuning into thought-provoking podcasts like 'Heavy Weight,' 'Science Vs,' and 'How I Built This'.
  • Relishing a tasty beer or wine in the company of good friends, celebrating life’s simple pleasures.
